Vizura

Vizura is a nitrogen stabiliser that improves the Nitrogen Use Efficiency of slurry and liquid biogas digestate waste.

Benefits

  • Delay in conversion of ammonium in the slurry or liquid biogas digestate waste to nitrate
  • Nitrogen in the form of ammonium remains in the root zone and is available for plant uptake for a longer period
  • Reduction in nitrate leaching and potential loss to drainage water
  • Increased Nitrogen availability can benefit plant physiology, with improved yields and crop quality

Why Vizura?

The conversion of ammonium to nitrite (which is subsequently converted to nitrate by Nitrobacter) by Nitrosomonas bacteria is significantly delayed by Vizura. The ammonium ions are positively charged and are adsorbed onto the negatively charged soil and are therefore not prone to leaching.

Trials have shown significant environmental benefits from the delay in conversion of ammonium to nitrate following application of Vizura:

  • On average Vizura can reduce nitrate losses by 35%
  • On average Vizura® can reduce nitrous oxide emissions by 50%

BASF trials have also show significant improvements in crop yield and quality:

  • Winter wheat crop yields increase by 5% on average
  • Maize crop yield increase by 7% on average, and starch yields increase by 12%

Benefits are greatest on sandy soils when significant precipitation occurs shortly after application.
